Freshman Application

The Freshman Indiana State University application is for a U.S. citizens or permanent residents who have graduated high school (or soon will be) and have not attended another college since graduating from high school.  Current high school students may apply to Indiana State University any time after the completion of their junior year in high school. 

Students who have completed Indiana’s High School Equivalency (HSE) or GED and have not enrolled in college prior will also apply using the Freshman application.

INSTRUCTIONS

Submit application materials to the Office of Admissions (at right). Applicants normally receive a response within two weeks of receipt of all application materials, including:

  1. Application to be completed online.
  2. Official High School Transcripts. To be official, transcripts must be sent directly from the high school to Indiana State University electronically or through postal mail. A final high school transcript will be required upon graduation and completion of all high school course work. Exceptions: official HSE and GED scores may be substituted for high school transcripts. 
  3. Standardized test scores (SAT or ACT) are not required for undergraduate applicants.  The SAT or ACT will be required for certain merit based scholarships.  Students wishing to be considered are advised to send official scores to the Office of Admission. 
  4. Military credit.   To receive credit for military service, applicants must submit a DD214 and a Joint Services Transcript (if security message appears when visiting this link, follow the instructions to continue to the Web site). 
  5. Dual Credit and AP Test Credit. To receive credit for dual credit college courses taken during high school, send official transcripts from the awarding institution. To receive credit for AP tests taken, send official College Board test results.
  6. Copy of alien registration card (green card) if applicable. 
  7. $25.00 application fee (nonrefundable). Payable by Visa, MasterCard, Discover.

APPLICATION PRIORITY DATES

To ensure full consideration, application materials must be received before the following dates. Early application is encouraged for scholarship considerations.

Fall semester.................... June 1 
Spring semester............... December 1 
Summer session............... May 1 

Applications received after these deadlines will be accepted and every attempt made to ensure consideration for the desired semester or term.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

To qualify for admission, applicants normally must satisfy the following:

  1. Freshmen candidates applying directly from high school are expected to complete a rigorous college preparatory curriculum (Core 40 curriculum for Indiana residents) and maintain a cumulative grade point of 2.4 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  2. Additional consideration for a conditional admission is given based upon evidence of potential to succeed.

EXCEPTIONS: Acceptable GED scores may be submitted to satisfy admission requirements listed above.
