Educational Benefits
- Applying for benefits: For information and assistance with federal and state veterans educational benefits programs, visit benefits programs.
- Certifying enrollment: In order to receive veterans educational benefits, students must certify enrollment with the University and with Veterans Affairs (if required) on a regular basis. For instructions, visit enrollment certification.
- Reporting a change in major/program: Failure to report a change in major/program or to certify enrollment may result in delay or loss of payment of educational benefits.
- Montgomery GI Bill®, Post-9/11 GI Bill, Montgomery GI Bill—Selected Reserve, REAP, and Survivors' and Dependents' Educational Assistance Program students who change majors/programs must contact the Office of Registration and Records at (812) 237-2020.
- Transferring to another college or university
- Montgomery GI Bill, Post-9/11 GI Bill, Montgomery GI Bill—Selected Reserve, and REAP students who are transferring to another college or university must complete and submit VA Form 22-1995 to Veterans Affairs and the Office of Registration and Records at Indiana State University.
- Survivors' and Dependents' Educational Assistance Program students who are transferring to another college or university must complete and submit VA 22-5495 to Veterans Affairs.

Residency for Tuition Purposes for Military Personnel
- Active Duty Military: Serving in the United States Armed Forces as defined by Indiana code (i.e., the United States Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, or the Guard/Reserves). Active military personnel and their spouses or dependents, who are serving in any state or abroad, are considered Indiana residents for tuition payment purposes. Active duty students must complete application for Classification as a Resident Student, along with appropriate support documentation no later than ten days prior to the first day of scheduled classes for the semester for which residence is sought.
- Veterans: Veterans who have been honorably discharged or medically separated from service (with at least one year of service) and their spouses and dependents may be considered an Indiana resident for tuition payment purposes when domiciled in Indiana. Veteran dependents also are eligible if the veteran was killed (KIA), declared missing in action (MIA) or a prisoner of war (POW). Eligibility should be documented by form DD-214. Veterans must complete the application for Classification as a Resident Student, along with all appropriate support documentation no later than ten days prior to the first day of scheduled classes for the semester for which residence is sought.
Note: Veterans who received any discharge other than honorable or who served less than one year or were unable to domicile in Indiana would not qualify themselves or their families for resident classification. - How To Apply for Classification as a Resident Student: Please read the application procedures prior to submitting the application to the Office of Registration and Records (ISU-ORR@mail.indstate.edu).

Counseling Services
The University's Student Counseling Center provides free counseling services to all registered students at Indiana State University. For details or to schedule an appointment, visit ISU's Student Counseling Center.
In addition, a therapist from the Veterans Administration is available at selected times on the ISU campus. Services are free and open to current ISU students who meet eligibility requirements. For details and contact information to schedule an appointment, visit ISU's Student Counseling Center.

The Veterans Resource Center, located on the ISU campus, offers student veterans a central location for benefits information as well as a place for camaraderie and relaxation between classes.
